“Peppermint calms the stomach,” Rouzer says. “It’s possible that you’ll feel better after taking it. Peppermint, on the other hand, can aggravate acid reflux symptoms in some people by loosening the muscle that prevents liquids from flowing back up into the esophagus.”
In the end, whether peppermint is beneficial or not is a personal choice. You can drink peppermint tea or take a peppermint pill, but if this remedy makes your acid reflux worse, try ginger instead. Ginger is calming and helps to reduce stomach inflammation. Both peppermint and ginger can help with bloating, gas, and diarrhea.
