Starting the Acid Reflux Diet Plan While on Acid Reflux Meds…
Should you quit acid reflux medications BEFORE starting the Acid Reflux Plan? When would be a good time to quit/wean? How to manage the plan while on these meds?
I get variations of these questions often as the author of The Complete Acid Reflux Diet Plan … and I wanted to make sure I answer here so you cant benefit too … whether you have my book and follow it or not…
Takehome points:
1. Start the plan BEFORE you wean off. This will help you wean off smoothly.
2. Don’t quit meds overnight or cold-turkey. You have to wean off slowly and work with your doctor on a plan. Stopping sharply will cause Acid Rebound, a situation where stomach cells produce MORE acid, and that will make you feel miserable.
3. If you haven’t started a PPI or H2 blocker–DON’t. They’re sadly overprescribed and easy to access OTC without much awareness of their side effects (watch the video as a share what they are). Start my plan first because you may never need the meds.
4. If you follow the plan and still have acid reflux, heartburn, burning sensation, or LPR (sore throat, hoarseness in your voice, trouble swallowing) 🔥 🔥 🔥 it’s possible that you have an underlying gut problem or you have a food sensitivity, and a general diet plan is not going to be enough to fix it.
